Warm up and Stretching

We blast some music on the stereo system and then start our warmup. We need to get the state of mind and energy level up to start. Whatever the trainer goes with that day the same as the tunes, we’ll warm up with some stretching, jogging, or jump rope. We perspire and elevate your heart rate in order to get the most out of your workout and help reduce the chances of injury.

Time to Hit Stuff

Right now its time to strap up our boxing gloves and start punching stuff. At Westchester Cardio Kickboxing we have a bag rack with 30 punching bags, so every student in class can have their own. Boxing is the best stress reliever. There’s nothing better then winding up and smashing a bag as hard as you can and turning life’s problems on the back burner for the 60 minutes of class. We aren’t just whacking the bag aimlessly, the teacher will take you through various combinations working with punches, knees, and kicks. You’ll most likely seem a little uncoordinated and off base in your first class, no matter what your fitness level. Considering that the difficult combos will be different for your muscles, not just your brain. Though the routines usually are comprised of basic combinations, when all is said and done, it is a routine that gets easier with practice. Plan to give your body 3 or 4 classes before you feel comfortable with the movements. All workouts combine the same general moves in a different order or portion of the combo.

Partner Up
At this point we have the class partner up. Its not to make you square off with one another, now you’ll for each other. Now you get to act like a trainer holding pads for his fighter then change off and end up being the fighter bashing the pads. You might feel a little awkward but don’t fret, it only takes a handful of classes to get your technique down, both for hitting pads and for being a good gym buddy and holding them. By your next or third workout it will be a piece of cake for you.

Ab Round

The full body motion of throwing a punch or kick already gives you a sick ab and core workout. We still stop punching and kicking to train our ladies’ stomaches and do some ab work. siccors, Planks, medicine ball throws,.

Now its time to pick up some weights. Now its time to finish strong and push it class is almost done. Using both cardio and weights in the session will help tone and define your arms, back, and shoulders. Beating the piss out of the bag and holding pads already have your arms like jelly but there is no bitching now if you want toned and defined shoulders, back, and arms.

The Home Stretch
We conclude our training with some stretching and high fives for for finishing your first class. In an hour of kickboxing class you burnt more calories than you could running on a fitness treadmill, stationary bike, or lifting weights.
