Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a Martial Art and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and ground fighting.  It teaches that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique—most notably by applying joint locks and choke holds to defeat the other person. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training can be used for sport, grappling tournaments, Mixed Martial Arts competition, and self defense.

All our BJJ classes are an hour and a half long.  The first hour focuses on drilling specific moves and techniques with a partner.  The last half hour we spend ‘rolling’ or sparring.  Live drilling/sparring plays a major role in BJJ training because BJJ is one of the only martial arts you can spar full speed without injuring your training partner.

Our BJJ classes are all no-gi.  Meaning we train without the traditional martial arts uniform and belt system.  This makes our training better suited for MMA and also self defense situations.
